Insider Spotlight:
Bigger stage, bigger rewards
The nationwide qualifiers began on September 19, with both online and offline matches designed to reach aspiring pros across the country. Teams are set to battle in Dota 2, VALORANT, and, for the first time, League of Legends, marking a significant expansion of the tournament’s scope.
“We’re excited to kick off the Predator League 2026 PH Qualifiers. Acer has always supported the growth of esports talent in the Philippines, and the Predator League has served as its proving ground,” Sue Ong-Lim, managing director of Acer Philippines, said in a press release on Oct. 14, 2025.
What’s at stake
The Dota 2 and VALORANT champions will each receive P200,000, while runners-up take home P120,000. Third and fourth placers get P50,000 each, and even fifth and sixth finishers are rewarded P20,000.
For League of Legends, the top team wins P100,000, with P50,000 for second place, and smaller cash prizes for the rest of the top six.
Road to international glory
Beyond cash, the stakes extend to the global stage. Winning Dota 2 and VALORANT teams will represent the Philippines at the Asia Pacific Predator League 2026 Grand Finals in India early next year.
The Predator League’s sustained investment underscores the Philippines’ rising reputation as a breeding ground for esports talent—and signals how brands like Acer are betting on the country’s young gamers to make their mark internationally. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
