The company is investing an estimated ₱300 billion in the following wind farm developments:
200-MW Pandan Labayat Wind Farm
2,000-MW Real Offshore Wind Farm
300-MW Silang Maragondon Wind Farm
300-MW Mauban Offshore Wind Farm
Airstream had already begun technical, environmental, and social assessments — including wind resource studies — ahead of the certification. The Green Lane recognition is expected to fast-track the permitting process and accelerate project execution.
“The issuance of Green Lane certifications gives opportunities for Airstream Renewable Corp. and XG to have bigger roles toward promoting clean energy in the Philippines,” said Eric Peter Y. Roxas, president and CEO of NexGen Energy. He said the projects will address energy sufficiency, electricity pricing, and environmental sustainability.
The Green Lane initiative mandates streamlined processes for permits from both local and national government agencies for projects deemed “strategic investments.” Criteria include significant capital infusion, environmental impact, infrastructure development, and technical complexity.
Roxas said the certifications reflect government confidence in Airstream’s capacity to contribute to sustainable development.
“The critical task ahead of us is to ensure that these wind farms will start commercial operations soon — thus contributing to XG’s long-term financial growth and increased shareholder value,” he added. — Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
