Her leadership is expected to strengthen the bureau’s role in credit risk analytics, identity verification, and fraud prevention, crucial elements in the country’s evolving financial landscape.
Arellano previously served as president and CEO of TransUnion Philippines, where she oversaw growth and expansion in the credit services industry.
Her extensive experience also includes senior roles at Visa Philippines and Citibank, with a strong track record of driving revenue growth, enhancing customer engagement, and leading strategic transformations.
Her academic background includes a BS in Economics degree, graduating cum laude from the University of the Philippines.
“Pia brings with her a proven track record of delivering growth and has extensive expertise in the credit bureau and financial services sector making her the ideal leader to drive and accelerate CIBI’s transformative growth journey,” said Brahmal Vasudevan, CEO of Creador, a key CIBI stakeholder.
CIBI, established in 1982 under the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, is known for supporting over 500 organizations across industries with credit and employment solutions that foster financial inclusivity.
Since its acquisition by private equity firm Creador in 2020, CIBI has expanded its capabilities, working with global partners like FICO, AdvanceAI, and Malaysia’s CTOS to introduce international best practices to the Philippine market.
Arellano expressed enthusiasm for her new role, stating, “We remain staunchly committed to being a key driver of nation-building and I look forward to collaborating with our customers, stakeholders and partners in achieving this vision.”
As CEO, Arellano said she aims to leverage her strategic insight and industry connections to further embed CIBI as a cornerstone of the country’s financial ecosystem, ensuring greater access to credit for Filipinos and bolstering economic resilience.
