‘FryDay’ celebrations
The fast-food chain will hold its first McDo Fry Fest on Sept. 4, simultaneously bringing the event to 64 restaurants across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The gathering follows McDonald’s National Fries Day activities in July and its subsequent “FryDay” celebrations.
‘Nationwide movement’
The initiative illustrates how established restaurant brands can use familiar products as anchors for community-building campaigns, moving beyond conventional discounts and advertising toward experiences intended to generate repeat engagement.
“Since National Fries Day last July, we've seen Filipinos continue celebrating their love for McDonald’s World Famous Fries every FryDay” McDonald’s Philippines chief marketing officer Ada Almendras-Lazaro said.
“Fry Fest is the culmination of that celebration—a special moment that brings together our community of Fries fans to share their passion for their favorite fries, create memorable experiences together, and celebrate what has become a nationwide movement of Fry lovers,” Almendras-Lazaro added.
The details
The event will run from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., offering registered customers unlimited servings of fries, games and interactive activities, as well as a limited-edition fries pouch.
Registration costs P330 and is conducted through a Fry Fest QR code using the McDonald’s app. Slots are limited, available on a first-come, first-served basis through Sept. 4.
Of the 64 participating restaurants, 50 are in Luzon, six in Visayas and eight in Mindanao, according to the company’s list.
Large physical platform
McDonald’s Philippines has built a network of close to 800 restaurants since entering the country in 1981, giving the company a large physical platform through which it can turn national marketing campaigns into localized customer experiences. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
