The aircraft, registered RP-C3513, arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 7:22 p.m. on Sept. 2 after a delivery flight from Airbus’ facility in Toulouse, France. It is the fourth of nine A350-1000 aircraft PAL ordered in 2023.
New-generation flagship
PAL remains the first and only Southeast Asian airline operating the A350-1000, giving the carrier a new-generation flagship as it builds its long-haul network.
The aircraft has 382 seats across three classes. Its Business Class features private suites with sliding privacy doors, while passengers can also choose a dedicated Premium Economy cabin and an enhanced Economy Class product.
PAL said the aircraft provides better fuel efficiency, lower carbon emissions and improved operating performance compared with previous-generation aircraft.
Fleet investment through 2036
The latest delivery forms part of a much broader fleet investment stretching through 2036.
At the Farnborough International Airshow in June, PAL signed Memoranda of Understanding for nine additional A350-1000s with purchase rights for another five. It also signed for 15 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners with options for five more aircraft.
The commitments reflect PAL’s expectations for continued long-term air travel growth and its push to operate a more modern and efficient fleet.
Where it flies
PAL is deploying the A350-1000 to major international markets including San Francisco, New York and Toronto, strengthening its ability to connect the Philippines with North America.
The airline currently operates nonstop services from Manila and Cebu to 29 domestic destinations and 40 destinations across Asia, North America, Australia and the Middle East.
