Of the total investment, Maynilad said P7 billion was allocated to improving sewerage and wastewater facilities, benefiting thousands of customers. Key projects include the ongoing construction of the Caloocan Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) and Las Piñas WRF, which commenced last year.
Additionally, Maynilad upgraded seven wastewater treatment plants in Muntinlupa, Pasay, Quezon City, and Manila to comply with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ stricter DAO 2021-19 wastewater standards.
Plugging the leaks
Maynilad also ramped up efforts to reduce water losses, investing P6 billion in its Non-Revenue Water (NRW) reduction program. The company replaced 142 kilometers of aging pipes, recovering 158 million liters of water per day (MLD).
To ensure water service reliability, Maynilad allocated P6.5 billion to the construction and rehabilitation of major water facilities, including the Poblacion Water Treatment Plant in Muntinlupa and the Parada Pumping Station in Valenzuela.
The company also expanded its pipeline network in Morong, Rizal, in preparation for the future Kaliwa Dam water supply.
An additional P4.4 billion was dedicated to developing small-scale water treatment facilities that source water from dams and rivers in Cavite province, helping to secure a more sustainable and resilient water supply.
Customer service enhancements
Beyond infrastructure, Maynilad focused on customer service improvements by upgrading digital communication channels and responsiveness to strengthen customer engagement.
“These infrastructure investments reflect our commitment to delivering safe and reliable water services while ensuring long-term sustainability amid growing demand and climate challenges. We remain focused on strengthening our operations and expanding access to clean water and sanitation for our customers,” said Maynilad president and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.
