SteelAsia Manufacturing Corp. has signed a historic partnership with Italian firm Danieli Co. Ltd. to build the Philippines’ first-ever heavy steel sections mill in Candelaria, Quezon—a major step forward in the nation’s industrialization.
On Jan. 30, the company dispatched a 32,000-metric ton shipment of high-strength reinforcing steel valued at P1.1 billion from its Davao City plant to Canada for a subway project in Vancouver.
The facility, slated to begin commercial operations by 2027, will produce heavy structural steel products like H beams, I beams, angles, channels, and sheet piles—products that are currently 100 percent imported.
