Business groups threaten to lead People’s Initiative vs political dynasties
In a joint statement on Feb. 12, 2026, the groups said that should lawmakers continue to delay or dilute reform, they will “call on the public to exercise their constitutional right to enact legislation through a People’s Initiative,” citing the Philippine Identification System as a secure digital platform to authenticate voter identity.

Civil society demands flood control reforms amid corruption scandal
The groups urged the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Department of Budget and Management to convene an independent review committee to revalidate flood projects. They want government to move away from cement-heavy infrastructure and prioritize nature-based solutions such as reforestation and watershed restoration.
