Insular Life (InLife) is making life insurance more affordable for young Filipinos with the launch of Stackbit, a digital-first product that allows customers to build insurance coverage starting at just P10.

The insurer said the stackable insurance product was designed for Gen Z and first-time insurance buyers who often postpone getting insured because they view traditional policies as expensive or requiring long-term financial commitments.

Flexible coverage

Unlike conventional insurance products that require fixed premium payments, Stackbit lets customers gradually increase their life insurance coverage by purchasing additional "stacks" whenever their budget allows.

The flexible approach enables policyholders to expand their protection over time without worrying about fixed payment amounts or due dates.

"Young Filipinos are financially aware, but many traditional insurance products were designed for a different generation, and one with a greater financial capacity. We wanted to create an experience that feels more natural to the way people live today: simple to start, flexible to maintain so they don't need to keep up with due dates, fully digital, and according to how much they want to spend," said Jose Eduardo O. Ang, InLife chief product and innovation officer.

The company said the product reflects the financial habits of many young adults who build savings gradually while juggling household expenses, bills, side hustles and family responsibilities.

Three options

Stackbit offers three protection plans tailored to different financial goals.

Quick Play provides one-year life insurance coverage for customers aged 18 to 55 seeking higher short-term protection. Power Stack offers 10-year coverage for Filipinos aged 18 to 45 who prefer to build insurance gradually, while Bonus Block provides 15-year coverage with a money-back benefit after the policy term for customers aged 18 to 40.

Across all three variants, customers can start with as little as P10 and increase their coverage as their financial capacity grows.

Digital experience

The product is fully digital, allowing customers to explore plans, register, purchase coverage and manage their policies online. Policyholders can also decide when and how much additional protection to buy based on their changing financial needs.

To support the launch, InLife introduced Stack Cat, a digital campaign mascot inspired by the belief that cats have nine lives. The campaign's tagline, "Bit by bit, Life's a Hit!", encourages Filipinos to view financial protection as something they can build gradually rather than postpone until later in life.

The insurer said it hopes the new offering will encourage more young adults to begin their insurance journey early by making coverage more accessible, flexible and affordable. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
