The two Qomolo E-truck S2 units, manufactured by Shanghai Westwell Technology Co. Ltd., run on lithium iron phosphate batteries, delivering zero emissions with a rated motor power of 263kW and peak output of 410kW.
According to Christian Lozano, MICT CEO, the initiative is part of ICTSI’s broader strategy to become a green port. “The testing of electric terminal tractors is another step toward modernizing our operations with sustainability in mind. It supports our broader goal of transitioning the MICT into a green port,” Lozano said.
The move aligns with ICTSI’s long-term environmental commitment to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The company is introducing cleaner equipment across its global terminals to boost energy efficiency and minimize environmental impact.
This latest initiative builds on MICT’s 2023 Green Port Award from the APEC Port Services Network, recognizing its environmental leadership.
ICTSI will monitor the electric tractors’ performance during the pilot phase before considering broader deployment across its global terminals.
