Insider Spotlight
Today, that journey has earned Sazon another international distinction.
The Mynt president and CEO has secured for the third consecutive year a spot on Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Asia list for 2026, recognizing her growing influence in financial technology and inclusive finance.
From crisis to opportunity
Sazon’s leadership coincided with an unprecedented shift toward cashless transactions. Rather than simply responding to demand, she helped reposition GCash as an everyday financial platform offering payments, savings, credit, insurance and investments.
Under her watch, Mynt became the Philippines’ first fintech unicorn to achieve a $5-billion valuation.
Now, the company is pursuing what it describes as the country's largest initial public offering, potentially opening another chapter in Philippine capital markets.
Making finance accessible
Beyond corporate milestones, Sazon’s leadership has focused on bringing financial services to underserved communities.
Through GScore, an artificial intelligence-powered credit scoring system, GCash has expanded lending access to more than 11 million borrowers, half of them women.
“I’m grateful for this recognition, which reflects the work of the whole team behind what we do. For us at GCash, ‘Finance for All’ means using technology to make everyday life better and create more opportunities for Filipinos. There’s still so much more we can do, and that’s what keeps us going,” Sazon said.
A voice on the global stage
With three decades of experience spanning consumer goods, telecommunications and fintech, Sazon has also brought Philippine financial innovation to international forums, including the World Economic Forum and United Nations Global Compact Leaders Summit.
Her latest Fortune recognition reflects a broader story of Philippine fintech gaining international visibility.
For Sazon, the next challenge extends beyond recognition: translating GCash’s growth into wider financial participation while steering Mynt toward its next corporate milestone. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
