Google Play unlocks cash payment option via 7-Eleven nationwide

Google Play has teamed up with Dragonpay and 7-Eleven to bring Filipino gamers and app enthusiasts a more convenient way to purchase apps, games, and in-app content using cash.

This partnership allows users to pay in cash at any of the 4,022 7-Eleven stores nationwide, eliminating the need for bank accounts or credit cards.

With this innovative payment solution, Dragonpay and 7-Eleven simplify the process of accessing premium content on Google Play, including games like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Roblox. Players can now avoid digital fees and delays, especially during time-sensitive in-game events.

To use this service, users simply generate a payment code or barcode via the Google Play app, then present it at the cashier in a nearby 7-Eleven store. Upon payment, credits are instantly loaded into their Google Play accounts.

Jackie Wang, country director of Google Philippines and Thailand, emphasized the value of accessibility. “By partnering with Dragonpay and 7-Eleven, we’re expanding payment options for Filipinos, enabling more people to enjoy the best of Google Play,” Wang said.

Jose Victor Paterno, president of Philippine Seven Corp., and Robertson Chiang, CEO of Dragonpay, stressed their commitment to financial inclusion and convenience, highlighting how this service bridges the gap for millions of unbanked Filipinos.

This partnership makes in-app purchases more accessible than ever, reinforcing 7-Eleven’s reputation for convenience and Dragonpay’s dedication to digital inclusion.
