Globe rewards app engagement, not spending, with digital credits

Globe Telecom is shifting how loyalty works in telecom by rewarding engagement, not just spending, giving millions of Filipinos a new way to earn digital value from everyday mobile activity.

What’s happening

Globe has partnered with The Binary Holdings (TBH) to integrate OneWave into the GlobeOne app, allowing subscribers to earn BNRY Digital Credits simply by engaging with games, content, shopping, and experiences inside the app.

Until now, most telco rewards programs were tied to top-ups or bill payments. OneWave changes that equation: time spent interacting within the app now has tangible value.

The big picture

Filipinos are among the world’s most active mobile users, spending hours daily on entertainment, social media, gaming, and e-commerce. OneWave taps into this behavior by turning engagement into rewards, regardless of whether a subscriber is on a prepaid, postpaid, or premium plan.

Traditional loyalty programs favor high spenders. OneWave broadens access, making participation—not purchasing power—the key to earning rewards.

How it works

BNRY Digital Credits function as digital loyalty points within GlobeOne. Subscribers earn them by:

  • Playing games
  • Watching content
  • Shopping within the app ecosystem
  • Participating in curated digital experiences

The credits are governed by a published treasury policy and are tracked on-chain via The Binary Network, TBH’s blockchain infrastructure. This ensures transparency, security, and auditability. Credits can be redeemed for goods and services within the ecosystem, with potential future use cases including Globe services and partner offerings.

“OneWave gives everyone a chance to participate in a digital economy, no matter their spending tier,” Manit Parikh, CEO of The Binary Holdings, said in a press release.

“A subscriber on a basic plan who actively uses the platform can earn just as much as a high-spending customer who doesn’t engage much.”

Why Globe is doing this

The partnership aligns with Globe’s broader push toward digital inclusion and deeper customer engagement. Globe’s ownership—anchored by Ayala Corp. and Singtel, which is linked to Singapore’s Temasek Holdings—reflects national priorities around financial access and digital empowerment.

The OneWave model creates a closed-loop ecosystem: entertainment drives engagement, engagement earns credits, and credits convert into real value.

Blockchain technology operates in the background, while users interact with familiar app features.

“Our partnership with TBH and OneWave helps us expand the ways we provide value and recognition to our customers,” said Darius Delgado, Globe’s chief commercial officer.

“It supports deeper engagement and reinforces our goal of a more digitally empowered subscriber base.”

Proven traction

TBH has deployed similar engagement-driven models in other markets for over a year, delivering higher daily active usage, stronger retention, and increased in-app activity.

Today, The Binary Holdings serves more than 700 million users across multiple countries and supports digital infrastructure projects, including CBDCs and state-backed digital currency programs in emerging markets.
