The fintech platform said transactions made overseas accounted for 74 percent of total GCash Visa card payment volume in 2025, underscoring growing adoption among Filipinos making purchases outside the country.
The GCash Visa card is accepted by more than 150 million merchants in over 200 countries and territories, enabling users to make both in-store and online purchases worldwide using funds directly from their GCash wallets.
The big picture
The company said one of the card’s key advantages is visibility into foreign exchange rates through the GCash app. Users can view conversion rates in real time before making transactions, helping them better manage travel budgets and avoid unexpected charges.
GCash also highlighted its real-time spend tracking feature, which allows users to monitor purchases instantly through the app instead of waiting for billing statements.
This feature is aimed at helping travelers maintain tighter control over spending during overseas trips, particularly as more Filipinos prioritize budgeting amid rising travel costs.
Why it matters
Accessibility remains another major selling point for the GCash Visa card. Through Visa’s international network, users can withdraw cash from ATMs in multiple countries, providing flexibility for travelers who still require physical cash while abroad.
“Travel should be about creating meaningful experiences, not worrying about how to pay abroad. With the GCash Visa card, travelers can enjoy a more convenient and seamless payment experience wherever Visa is accepted, while having the confidence that their transactions are secure and protected every step of the way,” said Ren-ren Reyes Jr., president and CEO of GCash operator G-Xchange Inc.
