First Filipino on WBBA board: Globe’s Darius Delgado champions broadband advocacy

Globe strengthens its presence in the global broadband industry with the recent appointment of Darius Delgado, its chief commercial officer, as a board member of the World Broadband Association (WBBA).

Founded in July 2021 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the WBBA unites broadband and cloud technology leaders to bridge the digital divide and drive sustainable digital transformation worldwide.

Globe joined the WBBA in April 2024. With a seat on the board, Globe gains a platform to contribute to global broadband development. It can now engage in key industry discussions and collaborate on solutions that address connectivity gaps and drive sustainable network expansion.

“Being part of the WBBA board enables Globe to collaborate with industry leaders in shaping the future of broadband,” said Delgado in a statement.

“We look forward to contributing insights and innovations that will enhance connectivity and expand access, especially in emerging markets like the Philippines,” he added.

We’re really thrilled to welcome Globe Telecom into the WBBA Board. It’s a great opportunity for them to join the growing family of #WBBA members, to come together and discuss the challenges and opportunities of broadband in a fast-changing world,” the statement quoted Martin Creaner, WBBA director general, as saying.

The WBBA focuses on driving digital inclusion, developing effective regulations, and advancing sustainable broadband investments. These goals align with Globe’s mission to enhance broadband accessibility, improve user experience, and push digital transformation across the country.

Through its WBBA membership, Globe engages in executive roundtables, international symposiums, and industry research to help close the connectivity gap for the nearly three billion people worldwide who remain unconnected. — Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
