Why it matters
Micro, small, and medium enterprises make up 99.5 percent of all Philippine businesses, yet many still struggle with digital onboarding, access to affordable connectivity, and the technical know-how needed to adopt AI tools.
The newly launched center aims to close this gap by giving entrepreneurs hands-on access to training, AI applications, and high-speed fiber connectivity.
The big picture
Located at the DTI building in Makati, the AI and Start-up Center will serve as a physical hub where aspiring entrepreneurs can explore emerging technologies, learn digital skills, and experiment with tools essential for scaling in a competitive market.
The partnership highlights a national effort to ensure that MSMEs—regardless of size or location—can harness digital solutions to improve efficiency and expand their reach.
What they’re saying
“MSMEs are the lifeblood of our economy, but many still face barriers to digital adoption,” Nylah Rizza Bautista, DTI assistant secretary, said in a press release on Nov. 19, 2025.
“Through this partnership with Converge SME, we are bridging that gap to ensure that Filipino entrepreneurs, regardless of location or size are equipped to thrive in a technology-driven world,” she added.
From the private sector side, Converge emphasized its mission to build an inclusive digital ecosystem. “At Converge, our purpose has always been to leave no one behind,” said Dindo Marzan, senior vice president and head of Converge SME Business Group.
“This collaboration with DTI allows us to extend that mission to the very heart of our economy by empowering our MSMEs with the tools and technology to compete, grow, and innovate,” he said.
Driving the trend
The partnership will roll out capacity-building programs, digital onboarding support, and access to the company’s suite of MSME connectivity and productivity services, supported by Converge’s expanding fiber network nationwide.
