The event capped a year-long initiative to build a pool of skilled professionals equipped to lead in the digital age. Tech partners were invited to demonstrate cutting-edge solutions and help employees, especially non-technical staff, understand the technologies transforming industries.
Management’s view
“We need to build a pool of professionals who have the skills and passion to navigate the challenges of the future,” broadband tycoon Dennis Anthony Uy, the co-founder and CEO of Converge, said in a post on the company's website.
“While we already have a strong foundation as a fiber broadband leader, we must continue upskilling our people to be at par with global tech providers,” he added.
Staying ahead of the curve
“The tech landscape is fast-evolving and a lot of skills are at risk of becoming outdated rapidly,” Uy said.
“The challenge for us is to identify the expertise essential for our business and support our people in developing these competencies. This doesn’t happen overnight,” he noted.
Upskilling efforts
As part of its transformation from a telco to a tech leader, Converge has been running its Competenshift program, launched in July last year, to sharpen employee expertise in advanced technologies.
The program includes webinars, workshops, and training on topics such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, blockchain, and the Internet of Things.
Converge has also invested in learning platforms like LinkedIn Learning, offering employees access to free courses and certifications that enhance their skills and career opportunities.
To sustain this effort, the company mandates 40 hours of training annually for all employees, ensuring a workforce prepared to navigate and lead in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
