BPI Wealth is tapping BlackRock’s Aladdin investment and wealth management platforms as it upgrades its technology infrastructure to handle increasingly complex portfolios and deliver more data-driven services to clients.
The asset and wealth management arm of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) said the technology would bring risk analytics, portfolio management tools and operational workflows into a unified system.
The platform is expected to help BPI Wealth manage multi-asset portfolios and provide more timely investment insights for clients’ onshore and offshore managed portfolios.
Global standards
“Selecting Aladdin marks a pivotal step in our journey to elevate our wealth management capabilities to global standards,” BPI Wealth President and CEO Maria Theresa Marcial said.
Marcial said increasingly complex markets and changing client expectations have created a need for institutional-grade technology to support customized solutions for high-net-worth individuals, families and institutional investors.
BPI Wealth expects the platform to strengthen its capabilities across traditional and alternative investments while allowing it to scale its services as its client base grows.
BlackRock’s Aladdin technology is used by financial institutions globally for portfolio management, investment processes and risk management.
Cross-border demand
The move also comes as wealth management clients increasingly seek investments across different markets.
“Clients are increasingly seeking cross-border investments with rising expectations for consistency, transparency, and operational resilience,” said James Verner, BlackRock’s head of Asia-Pacific business development for Aladdin.
BPI Wealth will use Aladdin Enterprise and Aladdin Wealth as part of a connected technology ecosystem.
Verner said integrating the platforms could help BPI Wealth provide more personalized client experiences while expanding its wealth management business.
BPI Wealth said the technology adoption forms part of its broader strategic transformation aimed at strengthening advisory services, improving data-driven insights and developing scalable investment solutions. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
