The agreements bring together Ayala Corp., Globe Telecom, Mynt, Mitsubishi Corp., MUFG, and KDDI to pursue projects aimed at improving urban connectivity and widening access to digital and financial services for Filipinos.
The deals were signed in Tokyo during activities linked to the Philippine government’s broader push to strengthen investment and infrastructure ties with Japan, according to a company release.
Why it matters
The partnerships reinforce Ayala’s strategy to deepen its presence in technology-enabled infrastructure and financial inclusion, areas seen as key growth drivers in the Philippine economy.
Among the projects under discussion are “Intelligent City” initiatives starting with Makati City, where the companies plan to explore data-driven urban platforms powered by artificial intelligence, Internet of Things technologies, and advanced connectivity. Globe’s network infrastructure is expected to support applications tied to mobility, retail, energy, and other urban services.
The companies also plan to expand financial inclusion efforts through digital innovation and ecosystem integration, leveraging the combined capabilities of Ayala, MUFG, and Mitsubishi Corp.
The big picture
Ayala said the broader collaboration also includes efforts to create more data-driven lifestyle services for Filipinos, with Mynt contributing enhanced data capabilities and customer engagement solutions.
“These partnerships reflect our shared commitment to nation-building, leveraging innovation, infrastructure, and technology to support the Philippines’ long-term growth,” Ayala Corporation president and CEO Cezar P. Consing said.
“Together with our Japanese partners, Ayala Corporation, Globe, Ayala Land, and Mynt are working to build intelligent urban environments and expand GCash’s role as a powerful platform for financial inclusion. We are creating more connected cities, more inclusive financial systems, and more opportunities for Filipinos to participate in and benefit from the digital economy,” he added. —Princess Daisy C.
