Aboitiz to make Mactan a connection hub with just 30-min layovers

Aboitiz InfraCapital GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. (AGMCAC) — the operator of Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) — announced the launch of "Cebu Connect," a new transfer system aimed at reducing layover times to 30 minutes or less.

This initiative is designed to enhance passenger experience and position Cebu as a premier entry point for tourists.

“Cebu Connect aims to cut layover time from an hour to 30 minutes or less, giving both domestic and international passengers more freedom to travel to their destination. This is part of MCIA’s commitment to meeting global standards in airport operations,” said AGMCAC CEO Athanasios Titonis.

The system features updated X-ray scanners, multiple counters, and trained security and airport staff to ensure safe and efficient transfers between Terminals 1 and 2.

By making Cebu an ideal hub, Aboitiz InfraCapital hopes to boost tourism, providing easy access to destinations like Siargao, Camiguin, and Palawan.

“Providing efficient and effortless travel through Cebu Connect is our way of enhancing tourism in Cebuand positioning MCIA among the world's best airports,” added Aboitiz InfraCapital CEO Cosette Canilao.
