Why it matters

The airport is expected to serve as a critical infrastructure asset supporting Laguindingan's ambition to become an emerging regional hub, with aviation investments complementing broader public-sector development initiatives.

During the celebration, ALAC also received a Plaque of Appreciation from the Municipal Government of Laguindingan for its timely tax compliance, earning recognition as one of the municipality's Top Business Establishments for 2026. The company said the award reflects its commitment to responsible corporate citizenship and collaboration with local government.

Since assuming airport operations in 2025, Aboitiz InfraCapital Airports has implemented improvements covering terminal enhancements, upgraded passenger facilities, improved wayfinding, expanded customer assistance services, strengthened operational systems, and specialized international training for technical personnel.

These initiatives are designed to improve safety, operational readiness, and the overall passenger experience while accommodating rising travel demand.

The bigger picture

The modernization program will continue through phased investments that include further terminal enhancements, upgraded airport systems and facilities, expanded commercial spaces, digital innovations, and operational improvements aimed at boosting efficiency and preparing the airport for future growth.

Aboitiz InfraCapital Airports said it will continue working with the Department of Transportation, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, the Municipal Government of Laguindingan, and other stakeholders to ensure the airport supports sustainable economic development, tourism, and improved regional connectivity.
