Created by UNMG’s Media Display Solutions division, the installation uses state-of-the-art technology to project captivating stories across the sky.
“Magic at the 5th,” displayed above BGC’s 5th Avenue, uses the sky as a canvas for high-resolution, dynamic imagery that can be seen across the city.
The installation combines Panasonic digital light processing projectors with a large holographic mesh to display visuals. Each projector outputs 32,000 lumens, show vivid colors and crisp imagery against the night sky.
“Attention, connection, and engagement are critical currencies for brands today,” UNMG deputy chief operations officer Benjamin Ernest Lim said. “With ‘Magic at the 5th’, we’re offering a fresh, innovative platform for brands to capture audiences with a unique, memorable experience that stands out from traditional advertising formats.”
The sky projection is the product of three years of planning and collaboration between MDS and both local and international experts in visual technology.
MDS head Wency Adrielyne Chavez Tan noted that the inspiration behind the display stemmed from the basic concept of a projector, which the team scaled to an unprecedented level to create the “sky magic” effect.
“Launching the first sky projection in Southeast Asia, especially here in BGC, was a challenge we embraced,” Tan said. “We wanted to showcase the potential of visual storytelling in an innovative format that’s both captivating and accessible.”
Set to run from November through February, “Magic at the 5th” will feature visuals that celebrate Christmas, Chinese New Year, and Valentine’s Day, bringing seasonal stories to life in vivid color.
UNMG and MDS plan to expand the project to other locations across the Philippines, leveraging the technology’s portability for broader audiences to experience.
