The P2-billion facility, located in Mabalacat, Pampanga, is Shera’s first production hub outside Thailand, signifying the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in Southeast Asia.
The construction of the five-hectare plant is advancing smoothly, with the project now 60 percent complete, the company said in a statement.
Once operational, the facility will have the capacity to produce up to 240,000 tons of fiber cement annually. The Mabalacat plant will not only cater to the Philippine market but will also be exported to Taiwan, South Korea, and some parts of North Asia and Oceania.
Shera’s new plant will be a showcase of advanced manufacturing technology, incorporating state-of-the-art machinery and sustainable practices, the company said.
The facility will be powered by solar energy and will utilize recycled materials, reflecting Shera’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmentally friendly production processes.
Fiber cement, known for its durability and longevity, offers a sustainable alternative to traditional construction materials. Shera’s products, the company said, are designed to withstand harsh conditions, being both water- and fire-resistant, making them ideal for the Philippines' unpredictable climate. The materials do not swell, bend, or crook, ensuring long-term reliability in construction projects.
The new facility is also expected to contribute to the local economy by providing employment opportunities for about 150 workers.
