In a statement on Wednesday, Oct. 9, the organization said the recognition highlights Singson's significant contributions to management and public service, along with his efforts to drive national development.
Singson — who served as MAP president in 2022 — was chosen for his outstanding leadership across both the public and private sectors. His tenure as Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways during the administration of President Benigno Aquino III was marked by transformative reforms.
He implemented a good governance and anti-corruption program that improved the agency's efficiency, turning it from one of the most criticized departments into a benchmark of effective public service.
MAP recognized Singson for his role in reshaping national values by embodying humility, ethical conduct, and spiritual integrity. His track record also includes promoting public-private partnerships, managing tollways, and leading water and power utilities privatization efforts. Singson's leadership in these areas has set a standard for Filipino managers to follow.
The organization of management professionals said that, in his current role at MPTC, Singson continues to make significant contributions to national development by generating job opportunities and expanding income avenues across various sectors of the economy.
His efforts with the MVP Group, which has undertaken substantial infrastructure projects, were also noted by MAP.
The "MAP Management Person of the Year" is a prestigious award that has been conferred only 48 times in the organization's six-decade history. It honors individuals with a proven record of leadership and integrity who have made significant contributions to the nation's progress.
The conferment ceremony for Singson will take place on Nov. 25, 2024, recognizing his achievements and continued dedication to advancing the management profession in the Philippines.
