The Philippine Competition Commission hosted the final negotiation for the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Competition (AFAC) on June 13-14 in Manila, led by Commissioner Lolibeth Ramit-Medrano.

AFAC aims to create a fair business environment, boost economic growth, and enhance cooperation among ASEAN countries.

It also seeks to integrate competition policies into economic plans and strengthen member states’ ability to tackle anti-competitive practices.

“Our collective sense of purpose in working towards regional economic integration has guided us through challenging areas to acceptable middle ground,” said Medrano in her address thanking the ASEAN Experts Group on Competition (AEGC).

“I am exceedingly grateful for everyone’s flexibility, constructive engagement, cooperation, and utmost good faith throughout the negotiation process which enabled us to fulfill our mandate within the given timeline,” she added.
