The event, which took place in Manila on Jan. 21 to 23, 2025, reaffirmed Mapúa’s commitment to advancing environmental sustainability and global collaboration.
Launched in 2003 originally as the Asian Pacific Regional Conference (APRC) in Taiwan, ICSET has since evolved into a premier platform for experts in environmental science and technology.
After a brief hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference returned with renewed purpose, drawing over 250 academics, industry leaders, and researchers from around the world to discuss cutting-edge sustainability solutions aligned with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Adding to the significance of the centennial celebration, Mapúa is also formalizing partnerships through the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) and Aston University (AU).
The MOU with PRA, represented by general manager and CEO Engr. Cesar S. Siador Jr., establishes learning opportunities on coastal reclamation projects, student immersion, and sustainability initiatives.
The agreement with AU, represented by Prof. Mirjam Roder on behalf of Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise Professor Mike Caine, expands opportunities for Mapúa’s students and faculty through joint research, dual degree programs, and global academic exchange with institutions in the United Kingdom.
All papers submitted to ICSET 2025 will undergo rigorous peer review, with selected works published in Scopus and Web of Science-indexed journals.
