Insider Spotlight
Toune takes over leadership of the 262-room Tagaytay property overlooking Taal Lake and Volcano at a time when the hotel is expanding guest engagement initiatives while preserving its legacy as a landmark destination. His appointment also reflects SMHCC's broader effort to build a future-ready hospitality portfolio across its hotel brands.
Why it matters
The leadership change comes as Philippine tourism and meeting demand continue to recover, prompting hotel operators to invest in experienced executives capable of balancing operational excellence with long-term growth strategies.
Toune brings more than two decades of international hospitality experience across luxury resorts and global hotel brands in Southeast Asia. Over the past 10 years in the Philippines, he has built expertise in hotel operations, commercial strategy, and people-focused management.
Most recently, he served as general manager of Park Inn by Radisson Davao, where SMHCC said he strengthened the hotel's market position, improved guest satisfaction, and deepened partnerships with local communities and stakeholders.
What they're saying

I look forward to working closely with our talented team to build on the hotel's success, elevate the guest experience, and create meaningful opportunities for innovation, professional development, and sustainable growth,” Toune added.
SMHCC executive vice president Peggy Angeles said, “Sven's appointment marks an important step in strengthening Taal Vista Hotel's position as a premier heritage destination. His expertise and strategic vision will be instrumental in accelerating growth across the MICE and leisure travel segments, forging meaningful partnerships, and elevating the exceptional guest experiences that define our brand.”
