Grab Philippines, MOVE IT aid 1,000 storm-affected families in Cavite, Laguna

Grab Philippines, in collaboration with moto-taxi partner MOVE IT, has distributed relief packages to over 1,000 families in Cavite and Laguna who were severely affected by Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami).

In a statement, the mobility and logistics firm said its relief efforts included essential supplies such as rice, canned goods, and hygiene products, aimed at providing immediate aid to impacted residents and driver-partners.

The initiative is part of Grab’s comprehensive support programs, namely GrabCares and MOVE IT Malasakit, which are designed to provide financial and in-kind assistance to drivers and delivery partners in times of crisis. Both organizations have set up a streamlined application process accessible through the driver app, allowing affected partners to request aid promptly.

Community leaders played a key role in identifying families in need. Perpe Mahinay Disoacido Jr., a representative from Grab Ugnayan Advocates, highlighted the proactive efforts of delivery partners who volunteered in the relief operations.

“We identify households needing immediate help through our community channels and share this information with Grab for faster response,” he said.

MOVE IT riders also rallied behind the effort. Aguinaldo Larioso, a MOVE IT community leader, emphasized the sense of solidarity, with riders opting to pause their usual routes to support fellow riders in need.

“The spirit of bayanihan [community support] is alive at MOVE IT and Grab,” Larioso noted.

According to the firm, the relief distribution reflects the commitment of Grab and MOVE IT to supporting their network and local communities during natural disasters.
