FWD Life, Security Bank unveil scholarship program for future leaders

FWD Life Insurance (FWD Philippines), in partnership with Security Bank Foundation Inc. (SBFI), has rolled out  the FWD-Security Bank Future Leaders College Scholarship Program to support children of Security Bank agency personnel.

The program provides tuition and stipends annually from academic year 2024-2025 until 2027-2028, helping address barriers to higher education. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, 10.7 million—or about a quarter—of Filipinos aged five to 24 are unable to pursue higher education due to socio-economic challenges.

What they’re saying:

“We at FWD are excited to launch this partnership to help provide better opportunities for more young Filipinos to achieve their dreams,” said FWD Philippines president and CEO Soon Liang Lau in a statement.

“As the insurer of the next generation, we believe that by touching more lives through education and financial literacy, we can empower aspiring leaders to build their best futures,” he added.

SBFI chair Rafael F. Simpao Jr. added: “We believe that with proper education, one should be able to succeed in life no matter what social or economic background they may have. Security Bank Foundation is incredibly grateful for the generous support of FWD towards our communities and investing to create future leaders.”

The big picture:

The scholarship also marks the 10th year of collaboration between FWD Philippines and Security Bank. SBFI, the bank’s corporate social responsibility arm, has long focused on education programs for underprivileged but high-potential students.

Security Bank president and CEO Sanjiv Vohra emphasized that the initiative aligns with the bank’s mission to enrich lives and build sustainable communities.

“Together, we’re investing in the next generation, equipping them to shape a more inclusive and prosperous tomorrow,” Vohra said. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
