Zobel’s return comes 19 months after he stepped away from the country’s oldest conglomerate due to health reasons that were not disclosed.
Since then, he has been steadily returning to key positions, including parent firm Ayala Corp., AC Health and Bank of the Philippine Islands.
In Sept. 2022, the group announced Zobel’s resignation from key roles within the group, including CEO of Ayala Corp. He was replaced by non-family professional Cezar P. Consing.
Ayala Land is also bolstering its management team with the hiring of veteran hospitality executive George I. Aquino as vice president and banker Jose Eduardo A. Quimpo III as vice president and treasurer.
Aquino was the vice president and managing director of AHC Hospitality since January 2014. Under his leadership, AHC Hospitality grew to multiple properties with additional five in development.
Quimpo was senior vice president of BDO Private Bank and previously, the president of BDO Securities and chief operating officer of BDO Capital & Investment Corp.
