Empowering lives through opportunity

Taal Vista has transformed the lives of its employees, offering not just jobs but pathways to success. Employees like Joel Tubig, a pool attendant, credit the hotel and the SM Foundation for providing scholarships and career opportunities that have enabled them to support their families and improve their quality of life.

“Taal Vista is not just a workplace—it’s part of my family’s journey,” said Joel, who used his earnings to send his children to private schools and invest in property. Similarly, room attendant Jeric Tenorio, who started as an on-the-job trainee, now mentors younger staff after 13 years at the hotel.

With 79 percent of its workforce sourced locally, Taal Vista has significantly contributed to Tagaytay’s economic development, enabling local residents to achieve stability and growth.

Championing local businesses

Through its Green Procurement Program, Taal Vista partners with 255 local suppliers, supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Initiatives like Tela Tales, which repurposes old linens into eco-friendly bags, reflect the hotel’s commitment to sustainability while providing livelihoods for local artisans.

Farm-to-table practices, driven by the hotel’s own vegetable garden, further enhance its environmentally conscious operations.

Building a sustainable legacy

“Taal Vista’s commitment to sustainability and local empowerment has been central to its legacy,” said General Manager Ramon Makilan. “We’re not just building a business; we’re building a stronger, more resilient community.”

As it celebrates 85 years, Taal Vista Hotel remains dedicated to fostering positive change, proving that success is measured by its impact on people, the planet, and the community.
