Former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. has denied knowing Curlee and Sarah Discaya after a photograph of them together spread on social media, according to a statement released by his legal counsel DivinaLaw.

“Mr. Revilla categorically denies knowing spouses Discaya and having had any dealings with them. He has no recollection of the photo in question or the circumstances under which it was taken.” 

Revilla added that if the photo is authentic, it may have been a “harmless and incidental photo opportunity” during his Senate tenure when he often accommodated visitors and requests for photographs.

Why it matters

The statement seeks to pre-empt speculation tying Revilla to the couple. He emphasized he would not allow his “name and reputation [to be] tarnished through unfounded insinuations” and urged the public and media to avoid “giving credence to baseless claims.”
