GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said the new hub enhances access to insurance services for government agencies, local government units (LGUs), and individual GSIS members.
“Quezon City is a strategic location that allows us to support more institutions and protect more public assets,” Veloso said during the launch ceremony.
The Quezon City hub serves both institutional and individual clients. For individuals, it offers coverage under GSIS’s Motor Vehicle, Fire, and Personal Accident Insurance programs. These products provide financial protection for property damage, third-party liability, fire losses, and injuries or deaths from accidents.
For agencies and LGUs, the hub streamlines the process of applying, renewing, and filing claims for insurance of government assets—including buildings, vehicles, and equipment—as mandated by Republic Act No. 656, which designates GSIS as the sole insurer of public properties.
“Ang bagong GSIS insurance hub na ito ay isang patunay na hindi na kailangan ng legislation para maging mahusay ang serbisyo ng ahensya ng gobyerno,” said Ricardo Bering, Executive Director of the House of Representatives’ Administrative Management Bureau and keynote speaker at the event. (This new GSIS insurance hub is proof that legislation is no longer needed for a government agency to deliver excellent service.)
The launch follows a surge in GSIS’s non-life insurance operations. From January to May 2025, gross premiums written reached P7.59 billion, up 11.9 percent year-on-year. In full-year 2024, the agency surpassed its P8.9-billion target by collecting P10.5 billion in premiums.
“As risks become more complex, government institutions need timely and reliable insurance solutions. This hub strengthens our commitment to provide efficient protection, right where it’s needed,” Veloso added. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
