Globe expands barangay broadband centers in Visayas

Globe AT HOME is expanding its barangay-based broadband centers across the Visayas to make fiber internet services more accessible to households in underserved and growing communities.

The initiative brings broadband application assistance and connectivity support closer to residents, especially families who live far from traditional service centers or need guidance in checking available home internet options.

Community access

The new broadband centers serve as convenient access points where residents can inquire about Globe Fiber plans, check service availability, receive application assistance, and get support throughout the subscription process.

Globe said dedicated broadband representatives are assigned within participating communities to assist walk-in customers and reach nearby households.

The approach aims to make information on home internet services more visible while reducing the need for residents to travel long distances for assistance.

"By bringing broadband services closer to communities, we are making it easier for more families to access the opportunities that come with a strong internet connection.”

The effort comes as internet access becomes increasingly essential in daily life.

Citing DataReportal, Globe said in a statement the Philippines had 97.5 million internet users as of January 2025, equivalent to 83.8 percent of the population.

“Reliable connectivity has become essential for education, work, business, and everyday life. By bringing broadband services closer to communities, we are making it easier for more families to access the opportunities that come with a strong internet connection,” Globe GM in Visayas Jimbo Cordero said in a statement.

Digital benefits

Globe said access to fiber connectivity supports students attending online classes, conducting research, submitting school requirements, and using digital learning resources from home.

For families, home broadband also enables access to government transactions, banking, bill payments, job applications, and other online services without needing to leave their communities.

Small business owners and home-based entrepreneurs can also use dependable internet access to strengthen their digital presence, connect with customers, and support business growth.

Households may also use Globe Fiber for streaming, online gaming, video calls, smart home experiences, and AI-powered applications across multiple connected devices.

Visayas expansion

The rollout continues this June with new broadband centers opening in Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Samar, Leyte, Bohol, and Cebu.

Globe has also established similar community-based broadband access points in Negros Occidental, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Oriental, Samar, Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, Aklan, Capiz, and Antique.

Residents in participating barangays are encouraged to visit their nearest Globe broadband center to learn about available plans, check coverage in their area, and apply for Globe Fiber.

Customers may also explore Globe AT HOME broadband offers through the company’s website.

Globe said the expansion forms part of its broader effort to bring connectivity closer to where people live, helping more Filipinos learn, earn, grow, and thrive in the digital age. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
