The Atletang Ayala World Pole Vault Challenge will be held on Sept. 20 and 21 at Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City, featuring some of the world’s top 10 pole vaulters in a historic street-style competition.
“It has been my lifelong dream to mount a world-class sporting event in my homeland to showcase Filipino talent and make the nation proud,” said Obiena, 29, a two-time World Championship medalist and Asian record-holder. “Now, it’s finally happening. I call on my kababayans to come together and support this once-in-a-lifetime event.”
The pole vault competition will follow a street vaulting format, allowing fans to witness the action up close in a dynamic urban setting. The event is sanctioned by the World Athletics Continental Tour–Bronze, ensuring global standards for competition, athlete eligibility, and event organization.
“Ayala is proud to partner with EJ for an event that celebrates Filipino excellence and marks the successes of our sporting heroes,” said Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala, executive director of Ayala Corp. “Through this pole vault challenge, we hope to bring Filipinos together in encouraging sporting participation, inspiring future athletes, and making us proud as a nation.”
The competition is also supported by the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association, World Athletics, and Asian Athletics.
Participating athletes will gain official ranking points, while the event winner will receive a cash prize.
The pole vault challenge aims to both inspire local sports fans and bring attention to the country’s athletic potential.
