Insider Spotlight
Founded in 2005 by young advocates, the group has long stood at the forefront of a consumer revolution built on everyday choices—sa isip, sa salita, at sa gawa (in thoughts, in words, and in deeds).
From its iconic bazaars to youth leadership and arts programs, Yabang Pinoy has created platforms where Filipino ingenuity thrives.
A legacy of leaders
Head of projects and partnerships JM Jose said the group’s most meaningful achievement has been the community it built.
“Our greatest accomplishment is the leaders, advocates, and volunteers we have met and worked with along the way—individuals who found their passion and success with the help of YP’s training and experiences.”
Filipino creativity in focus
At its anniversary press conference, Yabang Pinoy launched “Filipino Brands in Focus,” a panel spotlighting homegrown entrepreneurs.
Gouache co-founder Ann Poco shared how a chance encounter with Marikina artisans turned into a social enterprise crafting functional lifestyle carriers. Gouache’s collaboration with Yabang Pinoy will launch a bag line supporting the planting of 100,000 Bitaog hardwood trees in La Union.
Ali Sangalang, founder of Linya-Linya, showcased how witty, culturally rooted storytelling grew into a 10-year-old lifestyle brand. For the anniversary, Linya-Linya will release its “Live Proud” shorts collection.
Why it matters
These collaborations highlight Yabang Pinoy’s dual mission: championing Filipino creativity while investing in sustainability and community-building.
Looking ahead
Yabang Pinoy’s upcoming events include its 27th Global Pinoy Bazaar (Oct. 2–5, Glorietta), PH Cinema Sessions (Oct. 5 & 12, Libis), and multiple bazaars through November.
As director Patrick Joson put it, the Global Pinoy Bazaar grew from modest beginnings to a premier showcase of Philippine-made products.
“It created a space where entrepreneurs and consumers can connect through shared pride in quality Filipino products and services.”
The movement now calls on Filipinos everywhere to embrace its ethos: shop proudly, live proudly, and make nation-building a daily habit. —-Ed: Ramon C. Nocon
