Critical aid is on the way for Typhoon Carina victims from the SM Foundation, which is handing out over 4,000 Kalinga packs filled with food, water, and hygiene products.

These packs are going to hard-hit areas in Rizal, like Angono, Masinag, San Mateo, and Taytay, as well as parts of Manila and Quezon City, SM Foundation said on Friday.

Morevoer, employee-volunteers from SM Supermalls and SM Markets are helping prepare and deliver the packages.

“With Metro Manila placed under a state of calamity on Wednesday, widespread flooding has inundated numerous areas due to overflowing rivers and dam releases. In this critical situation, SM Foundation has swiftly mobilized resources to address the immediate needs of those affected,” the organization said on Friday.

This effort is part of SM’s Operation Tulong Express (OPTE) program, activated in response to severe flooding from Tropical Cyclone Carina and the southeast monsoon.

Free wifi, phone charging

SM Foundation is expanding its relief efforts to more areas in need. SM Supermalls has set up OPTE booths in affected locations, offering free overnight parking, wifi, phone charging stations, and help desks for flood victims.

These initiatives provide immediate relief and support to the community during this tough time. The SM Group is committed to helping disaster-affected areas and ensuring people get the assistance they need to recover.
