Strong cultural and economic ties between Japan and the Philippines remain a key pillar of JCB's strategy as the Japanese payment brand deepens its presence in the local market through partnerships, travel experiences, and merchant collaborations.

This year, the company is commemorating its 30th anniversary in the Philippines alongside the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Philippines, with a series of cultural activities, merchant promotions, and anniversary events designed to celebrate the enduring relationship between the two countries.

The big picture

JCB entered the Philippine market in 1996 and has since expanded its network through local banking partners, merchants, and travel collaborations.

The anniversary campaign reflects the company's broader effort to strengthen connections between Filipino consumers and Japan through experiences that extend beyond payment services, based on a company release.

Why it matters

Japan remains one of the Philippines' largest economic partners and a leading destination for Filipino travelers. Companies with deep roots in both markets continue to invest in initiatives that encourage tourism, commerce, and cultural exchange.

The offers

JCB's anniversary campaign includes:

  • Japan visa application fees for P30 until July 31
  • $30 off eligible Japan Airlines flights booked from July 15 to 31
  • P30 ramen every Tuesday at Ramen Kuroda until Sept. 29
  • 30 percent off at Mitsukoshi Fresh and Beauty from July 16 to Aug. 16
  • A three-day anniversary event at SM Mega Fashion Hall from Sept. 25 to 27 featuring Japanese cultural showcases, merchant partners, and banking collaborators

“For us, this milestone is a celebration of the lasting relationships, shared experiences, and cultural connections JCB has built with Filipino cardholders over the past three decades,” JCB Philippines country manager Wataru Tamura said.

“JCB remains committed to serving as a bridge between the two nations by creating meaningful partnerships and introducing more Filipino people to Japanese culture," Tamura said.

"Through these exclusive promotions and collaborations, we hope to bring people closer to the richness of Japanese culture and the warmth of Filipino hospitality, while creating memorable experiences that inspire future journeys together,” he added. —Princess Daisy C.
