The Ayala Group’s Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) emerged as the top Philippine company in TIME and Statista’s latest ranking of Asia-Pacific’s 500 best firms, placing 10th overall and leading a strong showing from the country’s corporate sector.

The Philippines had 36 companies on the list, with banking and financial services dominating the rankings based on employee satisfaction, revenue growth, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.

Banks, conglomerates dominate

Ayala Corp. ranked 35th, followed by BDO Unibank at 47th and Ayala Land at 73rd, underscoring the strong presence of financial and property groups.

Security Bank Corp. placed 88th while SM Investments Corp. ranked 101st, highlighting the dominance of large banks and conglomerates.

Other Philippine companies included Converge ICT Solutions Inc., Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation, and Union Bank of the Philippines.

Broad sector presence

Consumer and infrastructure firms such as Jollibee Foods Corporation, International Container Terminal Services, Inc., Manila Water Company, and Meralco also made the list.

The results show Philippine corporate presence across sectors, though banks remained the country’s strongest performers in regional competitiveness.
